Dr. Prabu Raman, TMJ & Sleep Apnea dentist in Kansas City

The human body is amazingly interconnected. A complex Temporo Mandibular Dysfunction case is typically characterized by a number of chronic, debilitating symptoms, each seemingly unrelated but united by various contributory factors. Jaw mal-alignment is often the root cause of even disabling, whole-body symptoms with many medical diagnoses and unsuccessful medical management.

Just as GPS navigation systems guide one to their destination, this “Goals–Process–Success” algorithm is a framework for predictably evaluating Complex TMD/CCMD/OSA cases and achieving relief for patients. This course series will provide a road map for successfully treating such complex cases. It was developed from decades of clinical practice exclusively devoted to TMD, Cranio Cervical Mandibular Dysfunction, and Dental Sleep Medicine.

Raman CCMD protocol is a key component for obtaining an optimally-unstrained jaw and neck relationship. It includes Cranio Cervical Physical Therapy to optimize the Atlas–Axis alignment. Attendees will learn the genesis of this protocol and the rationale for each component. Doctors will get hands-on training utilizing this protocol. Recording the 3-dimensional structural discrepancy is the starting point of any treatment. Live patient “bite taking” demonstrations of recording the optimal PNMD jaw relation using Myotronics K7 x evaluation system will cement the nuances of recording bite, in a clinical setting.

Such a Physiological Neuromuscular Bite can be used to fabricate Myoaligner systems, Vivos appliances, and removable or fixed NM orthotics in preparation for NM orthodontics or Full-Mouth Restorative treatments.

Course Descriptions

The G.P.S. course series consists of three courses designed to take you from the fundamentals of TMD/CCMD evaluation all the way through to troubleshooting various issues that arise during both phases of TMD treatment. Courses may be taken individually or together as a three-course continuum. Click the toggles below to read descriptions of what each course has to offer.

Dentists face many challenges in clinically evaluating TMD, such as building trust, increasing value for TMD treatment, and motivating patients to seek treatment from them. This course sets the foundation for the concept of G.P.S. while addressing these various difficulties. You’ll get hands-on training for performing effective TMD clinical examinations as well as proven communication techniques to ensure that your patients thoroughly understand their condition and seek care from you.

  • UNDERSTAND the nuances of recording PNM bite relation

Let’s say you’ve gone through the TMD evaluation and performed tests necessary to diagnose the precise physiologic neuromuscular relation of the mandible to the cranium. You’ve even conveyed the findings to the patient, who now trusts you to provide them with care. What’s next?
